Acclaro has a new opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team.

Position Type:    Full-time, permanent position

 

Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Project Manager will plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.  This will include acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of all required resources in order to deliver projects according to plan.  This is a client-facing role where you will be charged with developing and presenting project plans and ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage large capital projects ranging from $500K to $30M.
  • Direct and manage project development throughout its life cycle.
  • Engage in duties such as: project preparation, planning, scope definition, initiation, project reporting, management and successful delivery of projects.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools; track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations, as required.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Work on multiple projects with various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with work package managers, consultants and contractors, as required.
  • Actively participate in project meetings and provide relevant input.
  • Provide technical support and address any related technical issues.
  • Other duties which may be assigned, which fall within the nature of the role..


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong Experience in project delivery practices for large multi-discipline capital projects.
  • Familiar with Project Service Delivery Practices (PSDP).
  • Knowledge of SAP and Work Package Management.
  • Experience dealing with contractors and design consultants.
  • Knowledge of operating procedures and accounting principles, an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task when given multiple competing assignments, as well as having the aptitude to analyze issues, determine priorities, establish a course of action and follow through on tasks to a successful completion.
  • Detail oriented accuracy in all work and communication.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills required.
  • Strong technical skills; ability to exercise good judgment, be practical and capable of applying common sense, and accountable for individual work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, with high level of proficiency in Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.

Experience, Training and Education:

  • 10+ years engineering and/or project management experience; or related experience working on large multi-discipline capital projects, ranging from $500K to $30M.
  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP Designation is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) with APEGBC is an asset.
  • Hydro electric power industry experience is an asset.
