Acclaro Corporation’s (Acclaro) latest mining project is the development of a Calcium Sulfate mine in the province of Santiago del Estero, in central Argentina.
Currently in development stage, the mine is scheduled to be fully operational in 2011.
Extensive tests have shown the mineral (calcium sulfate dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O)) deposits are without sodium, with only trace sodium in concentrations of less than 50ppm, resulting in the mineral being of the highest quality.
Acclaro’s mandate is to ensure maximum yield with lowest possible environmental impact and, in line with the company's philosophy, has already engaged local contractor services and local labour force to ensure that the surrounding communities are involved in all aspects of the operation. We feel that, with community involvement, the needs of both the environment, and commercial operations, can be met (with no detrimental impact).
This also allows local participation in the project and provides employment for the local population. We also provide the training to improve the skills necessary for younger people to enter and remain in the work force. An added benefit is the people can live at home without the need for long stays away from family and friends.
As part of the regeneration process, natural water sources will be used to re-fill the areas of land left by the mining activity, creating a mirror of water for the development of fauna and flora and providing locals with a place of recreation and leisure, and the possibility of a tourism development.
